Agricultural Ecosystem

Human settlements and civilizations are the testament that agriculture is a major pillar in an economy. It is not only an important aspect of the financial system but it also affects healthcare and overall public nourishment. Kurukshetra being an agriculture hub with 86.67% cultivable land1 and farming seen as something practiced for generations, we felt the importance of understanding the existing ecosystem of the city through the lens of agriculture. To empathize with the existing system and identify its relevance in socio-economic aspects we decided to conduct an in-depth study of 2 weeks by mapping out various levels in the present agricultural system.

This project maps the agricultural ecosystem of Kurukshetra to reveal key leverage points for impactful change ranging from groundwater awareness to biodiversity literacy. It combines stakeholder insights with systems thinking, highlighting potential areas where complex problems can be simplified and more localized, resilient solutions can be adopted.
It also reflects use of strategy as a tool for ecosystem understanding, policy alignment, and sustainable transformation.
